About the role

Loading, running and checking parts on CNC milling, turning and sliding head machines in a regulated manufacturing environment, working to written instructions and cGMP standards.

What you will be doing

  • Operating CNC machines safely and in line with the operating manual and the work instructions on the works order
  • Loading and unloading the machine, clearing swarf and keeping the area in good order
  • Monitoring the machine and making basic adjustments, escalating anything outside your level to a senior operator or setter
  • Keeping coolant and oil levels topped up
  • Checking cycle times stay within acceptable limits and reporting to the supervisor if they do not
  • Measuring product and recording results in line with requirements
  • Monitoring product throughout the run and addressing non conformances as they arise
  • Following SOPs and cGMP standards, and keeping yourself current on both
  • Leaving the machine ready for the next operator and moving product to the next stage before the end of shift
  • Working to the company health and safety programme at all times

What you need

  • Experience operating CNC machines in a production environment, on milling, turning or sliding head
  • Able to load, run and check parts to a drawing or work instruction without close supervision
  • Confident using measuring equipment and recording results accurately
  • Comfortable working to written procedures in a quality controlled environment
  • Good standard of English, written and spoken, for work instructions and documentation
  • Willingness to work shift

Experience in a regulated environment such as medical devices, pharmaceutical or aerospace is an advantage but not essential. Full training on the company's own procedures is provided.
